A
success story based on a unique concept in which a raw material
supplier Jordan Phosphate Mines Company Limited (JPMC - Jordan)
and a finished product consumer Southern Petrochemical Industries
Corporation Limited (SPIC - India) joined hands in 1991. Based on
the merits and content of the joint venture, The Arab Investment
Company SAA (TAIC - Saudi Arabia), a Pan-Arab financial institution,
subsequently joined as a third promoter to further strengthen the
Indo-Arab partnership.
IJC
was incorporated in March 1992 for the purpose of setting up and
operating a Phosphoric Acid & Sulphuric Acid Complex in Jordan
by availing the Rock Phosphate from JPMC and exporting the entire
production of Phosphoric Acid to India.

Southern
Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC):
Commenced operations as a fertilizer giant in Southern India and
is today a major industrial conglomerate based in Chennai, India.
The activities of the SPIC Group in India and abroad include manufacture
of petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products, engineering
and project management services.
Jordan
Phosphate Mines Company Limited (JPMC):
Fifth largest producer of high quality rock phosphate and the third
biggest exporter worldwide. It is by far the largest industry in
Jordan. It also operates a mammoth fertilizer complex and a Japanese
joint venture project at Aqaba.
The
Arab Investment Company SAA (TAIC):
An Arab joint-stock company owned by 17 Arab states. TAIC operates
in two distinct and separate areas (1) as an equity investor in
projects and (2) as a commercial bank.
